19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since March of that year.
Victory also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an better service.
He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the final five games to go ahead.
Both players traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.
Moutet saved four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
